The Changing Room / Part 2 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 7)

The Changing Room / Part 2 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 7)

February 18, 2020

The Gospel has the power over both the PENALTY of sin AND the POWER of sin. And thankfully, one day it will result in freedom over the PRESENCE of sin as well! The Gospel is not just for lost people. It is also for the born-again believers. In this second part of "The Changing Room", Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 3:11-17 as we unpack the relational change that occurs as a result of the fundamental spiritual transformation of the Gospel. The "put on" part of this text reminds us of the Holy Spirit's indwelling and fruit that presents as we mature in Christ. The most obvious change is in our human relationships! Message preached on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at ParkerDC. The Changing Room / Part 1 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 6)

The Changing Room / Part 1 (#EstablishedInJesus Week 6)

February 10, 2020

If the Gospel isn't changing you, are you really in Christ? In this message from the "Established In Jesus" series, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 3:1-11 and how the Gospel not only saves us from the penalty of sin, but also the power of sin! Jesus redeems us but also sanctifies us (matures us in holiness). We are new creations in Christ Jesus and that old sin should have less and less influence on us. As we are in awe of the Gospel, we are distanced from our sin!  Message preached on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at ParkerDC. Religious Disqualification (#EstablishedInJesus Week Five)

Religious Disqualification (#EstablishedInJesus Week Five)

February 2, 2020

It is all by God's grace! In this message, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 2:16-23 and Paul's encouragement to not allow legalism to invade the church. The Gospel doesn't need works! It has already been WORKED by Jesus Christ. Anytime we add anything to the Gospel, we seriously cheapen grace and distort the narrative. Furthermore, our sin is only combated by the Gospel transforming our heart, not traditions and man-made laws that merely are appearances.  Message preached on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at ParkerDC. Feet Firmly Planted (#EstablishedInJesus Week Four)

Feet Firmly Planted (#EstablishedInJesus Week Four)

January 27, 2020

Rooted. Built up.  Established in Jesus.  These are the descriptions of a life that is saturated in the Gospel! In this message from our "Established In Jesus" series, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 2:1-15 and discusses the diety and sufficiency of Christ. Knowledge and wisdom are found in personally knowing Jesus as Savior and Lord. Any attempt to make our lives about ourself at the expense of the Lordship of Christ clouds the Gospel! Message preached on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at ParkerDC. For more information about DC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com a

Gospel Suffering (#EstablishedInJesus Week Three)

Gospel Suffering (#EstablishedInJesus Week Three)

January 20, 2020

It's NOT the gospel if it doesn't include suffering! In this message from the "Established In Jesus" series in Colossians, Pastor Joey looks at Colossians 1:24-29 and Paul's suffering as a result of the gospel. We discover that the Scriptures are littered full of promises regarding both suffering and glory. As a result, we formulate a "theology of suffering" to ground our life circumstances in the HOPE of the Gospel. The objective of the Christian life is not comfort or ease. It is obedience that will likely lead to suffering in some form or fashion. Are you ready to suffer for Christ? Message preached on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at ParkerDC. For more information about DC, visit us at www.dclivelove.com and be our guest this coming weekend at 11 AM as we continue in this series!

He Is (#EstablishedInJesus Week Two)

He Is (#EstablishedInJesus Week Two)

January 13, 2020

"The context of the gospel message is not our benefit or our salvation; the context of the gospel is the supremacy of Christ and the glory of God." (Matt Chandler)  In this second message from our "Established In Jesus" series in Colossians, Pastor Joey looks at this incredible description of Jesus in Colossians 1:13-26 as we discover the Supremacy, Sovereignty, Sustaining Power, and Sufficiency of Christ! This text reads like a lion that has been uncaged and ready to declare his strength. It helps us capture anew a proper view of Christ and the gospel.  Message preached on Sunday, January 12, 2020. The Gospel Produces (#EstablishedInJesus Week One)

The Gospel Produces (#EstablishedInJesus Week One)

January 6, 2020

Let's talk about the Gospel.  In 2020, we will be focused on the Gospel as is outlined in the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. In this first message of the year, Pastor Joey begins in Colossians 1:1-14 as we look at the Gospel of Truth. Truth qualifies the Gospel as "good news". It's not subjective, it's absolute and exclusive. The Gospel cuts through the deceit of sin. Truth is a person named Jesus. Truth is found in God's Holy Word. Truth matters.  And when truth is foundational in our life and church, fruit is a natural response. Grace is the root of the Gospel. Faith expressed in love is the fruit!  Message preached on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at DC. For more information about our church, visit us at www.dclivelove.com and be our guest this Sunday at 11 AM for Worship Celebration and part two of "Established In Jesus".

The Glory of God And The Gospel (#EstablishedInChrist Preface)

The Glory of God And The Gospel (#EstablishedInChrist Preface)

December 30, 2019

The Gospel begins and ends with the GLORY OF GOD!  In this preface to the new "Established In Jesus" series, Pastor Joey looks at Romans 1:25-36 and the Soveriegnty of God, the Integrity of His Word, and the Mystery of the Gospel. We clearly see that the GOSPEL is not about us. It's about God FIRST! The Gospel is FOR us, but it's definitely about God's love expressed through Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and ascension.  Please listen to this important message as it sets the stage for a paradigm shift in the ministry of ParkerDC. Message preached on Sunday, December 29, 2019.  Join us this week as we are back on our normal schedule beginning January 5, 2020.

We Have Found (#WhosYour1 Week 5)

We Have Found (#WhosYour1 Week 5)

December 16, 2019

Billy Graham once said, "Our faith becomes stronger as we express it; a growing faith is a sharing faith."  Andrew is the most inconspicuous of the "inner circle" of Jesus, but this disciple models "the invite" well. In this final message from the launch series to the "Who's Your One?" focus in our church, Pastor Joey looks at John 1:35-42 and how Andrew introduces his brother (the more popular Peter) to Jesus. We know very little of Andrew outside of a handful of moments in the Gospels, but his biggest impact may have been his first appearance. Andrew likely didn't lead thousands to Christ, preach many powerful sermons, or start churches. However, his brother did! And his brother's relationship with Jesus was contingent upon Andrew's invite. You see, the overwhelming size of the task should not keep us from doing our part in the mission. We are not called to save the world! However, we are commanded to tell our ONE about the Savior of the World! What if each one, reached one?  The church and the Kingdom of God would look alot different if each born-again believer owned the task to introduce one person to Jesus this coming year!
